After it’s yearly hiatus, the Premier League is back on August 11th. Another year of glory, heartbreak, and thrill is upon us. Manchester City were crowned the winners last season, with a record-breaking 100 points. In today’s article, I’ll take a look at who I believe will finish in the top 6.
*Does not take into account any signings made after July 29th*

6th: Manchester United
Finishing 2nd in 2017/18, United fans have a right to be optimistic for next season. Their transfer business has been above average, signing 2 players. Not the worst off-season, by any stretch of the imagination. However, their problems lie in their manager: Jose Mourinho. Jose has a reputation of somewhat imploding in his 3rd season at a club. Every single club he’s been at, he’s been fired in his 3rd season. The complaining and blaming has already started in preseason, and I can’t see it getting better. 6th place for the Red Devils.

5th: Arsenal
After 20 years under Arsene Wenger, a new era begins for Arsenal. Head coach Unai Emery will look to improve on last season’s 6th place finish, and I think he will. But, there is a lot of deadwood in their squad, and it’ll hurt them. Players like Mesut Ozil and Aubameyang will be key to Arsenal, as will the new addtion of Lucas Torreira. A 5th place finish will be a decent improvement for the Gunners.

4th: Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham are an interesting situation, as they’ve signed 0 players so far. However, their squad is more than good enough to maintain a top 4 finish. I expect Harry Kane to score his usual 25 goals, with Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli contributing as well. Overall, a decent season for Spurs awaits, but nothing special.

3rd: Chelsea
After a disappointing 2017-18 season, Chelsea will look to bounce back next season. New manager Maurizio Sarri takes charge, implementing his style known as “Sarrismo”. New midfielder Jorginho has also followed Sarri from their old club (Napoli), and will fit in seamlessly having already learned the system. Eden Hazard will flourish, finally getting the chance to play in an attacking system. However, the transition from defensive football to attacking football won’t be easy, and this will cost them a few games. The Blues will finish a strong 3rd.

2nd: Liverpool
Playing “heavy metal football”, as Jurgen Klopp describes it, Liverpool will continue to impress next season. They’ve had the best transfer window by some distance, spending a whopping £155 million so far. They’ve strengthened in key areas, both in the midfield and defense. However, their squad lacks a “winning mentality”, and they will fall just short of their first ever Premier League title.

1st: Manchester City
Far and away the easiest prediction, I have no doubt that Manchester City will retain the Premier League title. As if their squad wasn’t good enough already, the signing of Riyad Mahrez is just the icing on the cake. They won’t reach 100 points again, but the title will most definitely remain in Manchester. The Cityzens are getting dangerously close to reaching Golden State Warriors level…
And that concludes my top 6 Premier League predictions for next season. Feel free to leave your predictions in the comments below, and thanks for reading!
